Data & Safety Notes

At Riverglass Studio School we handle information and safety with the same care we give to glass. This page explains how we collect, store and protect your data, as well as the health and safety principles followed inside our workshop.

Data handling and privacy

When you complete a booking or enquiry form, we ask only for contact details required to confirm your place: name, phone number and email address. These are stored securely and accessed solely by the studio coordinator for scheduling and communication purposes. We do not share, sell or distribute any personal data to third parties, and we delete inactive contact records after twelve months.

Our website uses essential cookies to keep forms functioning. Analytical cookies, where allowed, track page visits anonymously to help improve layout and loading speed. No profiling or automated decision-making is carried out. You may opt out of analytics at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

In line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request access, correction or deletion of any personal data we hold about you. Requests can be made via [email protected]. We will respond within one month.

Safety within the studio

Glassblowing involves heat, flame and movement, so clear safety practice is vital. Participants are briefed before each session on protective equipment, appropriate clothing and conduct near the furnace. All tools are inspected regularly, and emergency equipment—extinguishers, first aid kits, eye protection—is maintained and accessible.

Visitors must wear natural-fibre clothing, long sleeves and closed footwear. Drinking water is available and regular cooling breaks are encouraged. The studio is ventilated and fitted with heat-resistant flooring. Only staff may operate the furnace when unsupervised. Children or spectators must remain behind the barrier in the viewing zone.

Accidents and insurance

Minor incidents are logged, and a qualified first-aid officer is present during all classes. Our public liability insurance covers workshop activity for registered participants. Please inform staff of any medical conditions or mobility limitations when booking, so we can adapt workspace arrangements.

Updates

We may revise these notes from time to time to reflect current data regulations or workshop policy. The latest version will always be displayed on this page. Continued use of our site or attendance at sessions indicates acceptance of the updated guidance.
